The Pittsburgh Movie

This afternoon a group of us (Kate, her bf John, Crispian, Myles & me) made our way down to the Point to participate in a Mister Rogers sing-a-long for Carl Kurlander's documentary about Pittsburgh, A Tale of Two Cities. Carl and his crew have travelled to New York and L.A. to film Pittsburghers-in-exile in the arts communites in each place singing the them to Mister Rogers. The planned end of the film includes one last sing-a-long actually in the city of Pittsburgh. We were led in song by none other than David Newell, aka Mr. McFeely . There were a few hundred people who stuck it out in the sunshine for the hour of take after take. Alas, though, our appearances will be uncredited, so i still am not a potential move in Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

It was easy to tell who was on the crew

And oooh, the magic of movie making.

It was funny the number of cameras buzzing around, most probably not even directly involved in the movie. Still cameras, video cameras, digital cameras---every channel, every paper, and then some.
Now, the best part for me was to be able to get thisclose to this man. I tried to explain to Myles and Crispian that when I was their age, he was my Bussy.

I didn't try to get an autograph because despite the fact that I was hauling around my enormous diaper back pack, I did not have a pen. However, since this is Pittsburgh, no doubt there will be future opportunities.
