Myles and our week improve

After the doctor cleared Myles for any and all beach activities yesterday, we've been trying to make up for lost time. We have collected seashells, built small villages of towers, and destroyed those villages. Myles has overcome his long-time fear of walking in sand (to the point where he kept remarking this afternoon, "I CAN walk around"). He replaced it with a new fear of the ocean waves. I had a hard time convincing him that any spot where I chose to plant ourselves that wasn't practically in the dunes was safe from the incoming water. We made serious headway with that today, though. He was bested by his curiosity about the thousands of seashellls that were lining the beach thanks to the high tide and four-to-six-foot seas today. He even let the water touch his toes a little. BUT, just so you know, I have no problem with my two-and-a-half-year-old fearing the water. None whatsoever. If he just wants to dig in the sand and build and destroy--no problem.
The past few days have been the kind that I love about the Outer Banks. At the start of the week, the temperatures were in the 80s, and the water in the low 60s. Today it was in the 70s and windy, but the water was warming up again. You can have 80 degrees in November and 70 degrees in July. I'll take it hot or cold, windy or just breezy. As long as we have our beach chairs and our sand toys, and occassionally a kite, we are very happy.
I have fun pictures, but they'll have to wait until next week, as I forgot the powercord for my computer and my aunt has dial-up.
