MONSTER JAM!!!!
So, yes, Saturday we experienced some serious "Monster Truck Action" (a phrase you really need to hear Myles say in his man-voice). Muchos thanks to Devin and Ashley and Collin and Brownie and Trenton for inviting us to go along!
Some of my friends and family might remember my introduction to the world of Monster Trucks which involved pilgrimages---I mean visits--- to Digger's Dungeon. We have officially progressed beyond that to actual Monster Jam events. As my sister Kate said to me just a few weeks ago, if I were a good mother I would actually take my son to a Monster Jam. So I am now a Good Mother.
Over the course of the weekend, the Monster Trucks put on three shows--Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night. At the Saturday night event, which we attended, the participating trucks were Safe Auto Minimizer, Pastrana 199, Superman, Dominator, and GRAVE DIGGER (which was actually driven by Chad Tingler). The three events of "competition" were a Wheelie Contest, Chicago-style racing (as opposed to head-to-head), and, what we really paid to see, the Freestyle. I use the word "competition" loosely only because two of the events, the Wheelie and the Freestyle, are subjectively judged in the stand by fans.
When it came time for the truck introductions, all by Grave Digger came out at the same time. After they were presented to the crowd, you then heard the opening chimes of (I think) Hell's Bells, followed by "Bad to Bone." Then he raced out, spun some donuts--really made an entrance. Grave Digger then went on to win every event, scoring perfectly in the Freestyle.

In between Monster Truck events were some Quad War races (very aggressive four-wheeler races) and stunt dirt bikes. The dirt bikes were cool (did I just write that?)
Oh yeah, does anyone know what movie this line comes from? "Watch out for that Tingler Dave. It's an ugly and dangerous thing."

The Tingler 1959 Vincent Price Darryl Hickman Pamela Lincoln. Darryl Hickman would eventually marry his co-star, Pamela Lincoln, after the filming of The Tingler.
