For my hometown readers

It was kinda funny to read Open Book today and read about Dave Galvin and what he is up to. Yes, I'm pretty sure it is that Dave Galvin because he is a deacon in West Virginia. His parish opened a new church, and he was in the procession.

David Galvin, a deacon at St. James, carried a monstrance, which is a gold vessel for carrying the body of Christ. Galvin walked under a canopy being carried by four men and the smell of incense wafted through the air as the party walked past.

Reminded me of when we were growing up and as one of the "older" altar boys he always got to carry thurifer, because you could "sit out" most of the Mass or Forty Hours. :-) He just can't get enough of that incense.
