Wet nurses in Shenzhen

I read this earlier in the week in the English-language Shenzhen newspaper. It shouldn't surprise me that wet-nursing still exists, but on some level I can't comprehend hiring one (except in situations like in the Kite Runner when Amir's mother dies giving birth and Hassan's runs off right after his). At the prices quoted in the article, the clients would have to be well-off Chinese women or foreigners.
There are times when this place feels really colonial. Reading that reminds me how true that probably still is.
