Randy Double Dog Dared Me

Randy took this picture and dared me to post on my "little Catholic blog."
We were walking home from eating dinner out last night. There were no customers at Home Bar, so the owner Fei Fei (the girl in the black tank with her back to the camera) started a game of cards on her front stoop. I have no idea what they were playing, except there were very quick draws and discards and money on the table. Myles saw this and he wanted in on the action. He pulled up his stool to the table.
If this weren't too much for you, I handed him a five RMB bill and told him not to leave the table until he turned it into a 50. When we did have to go, he told me, "I won forty cents!!!!" At least he came out ahead.
Now here is the part of the post where I should comment rather dryly that my mother would be so proud. Problem is, there would be no irony in that statement for me. My mother's family is a family of card players. Shuffling is a skill we learned before shoe-tying. Trumping your partner's bower will get you written out of their will. The week my Grandmother died, I think I logged about 40 card-playing hours in among the viewings, parish prayers, funeral, and burial. That is nothing compared to how much my mother, her siblings, and a few of my cousins played. On that side of my family, it is What We Do.
So, Randy dared me, and it wasn't really necessary. Maybe Catholic Blog Readers won't like it, but my mother will.
