Bye Bye Bishop Wuerl :-(

Megs just text messaged me. Bishop Wuerl is going to DC. I mean, good for him and DC, and I guess the Church in America. And that makes the second consecutive big elevation out of my current home diocese.
But man, what a terrific man. Funny, too, when I saw him at the Christmas Concert I was startled by how good-looking he is, and I thought at that point (jokingly to myself) how he would look good as a Cardinal, too. Which is of course all the qualifications you need to be Cardinal (JOKING!!!!). Of course, he isn't a Cardinal yet.......
Megs just texted me again and said no word on his replacement.......Brandt? Trautman? Bradley? Maybe a big ole homecoming for those native sons and Stiller fans in Providence or Green Bay?
Of course, if you read the Rocco blog you probably already know this and the replacement, but I can't read his here, so go ahead and post in the comments if you know something I don't.

No word on the replacement yet. Rocco's got nothing, either. Brandt? Let's hope not. After Wuerl, Pittsburgh's used to a bishop who likes to take advantage of the opportunities he has to preach, teach, and reach out to his flock. I'll be charitable here and simply say that after two years heading my diocese, Bishop Brandt has shown that he doesn't exactly fit that particular mold...at all. :)

they were showing some footage of a much younger wuerl, and you are quite right on your assessment. what a fine-lookin' man! but anyway, moving up to archbishop of the archdiocese of washington is a huge compliment and honor to wuerl and the work he's done in his life. however, we need to keep praying the newly appointed bishop (whenever that will be) will be just as good an asset to the pittsburgh diocese.
