Light blogging

This just sounded like so much fun I had to get me some of these.
I spent the bulk of the day in the waiting room of the hospital, so long that I had to get a CT rather than a routine ultrasound because the ultrasound technicians had already gone home for the day. So long that I prayed the rosary five times after the painkillers kicked in and before I dozed off. I am home tonight and will call the surgeon tomorrow, hopefully for a quick-and-easy procedure. And all this time I thought I had gas!
So why now? Randy on the phone said that I don't eat that fatty of a diet, and then I pointed out my football-season all-cheese diet. My sister Megan and I figure that it was the extra weeks of Steelers, with all the pizzas and cheesy taco dips and cheese plates and brie pear pastries, and the beer, that this is why I now have gallstones.
So I'll get back to you soon. It is really not serious, just painful enough for some occassional Vicodin, which I can luxuriate in taking tonight because Myles is at his grandparents.

I had mine taken out in 2002. Do you remember when I came up to visit the summer before, and we spent pretty much the whole Saturday in our pj's? Randy made waffles for breakfast, and we almost didn't go to Dave & Buster's. I thought I was dying. Nope, it was just my gallbladder. (I didn't have stones, it was just messed up.)

Dr. Johnson (the very best surgeon in E'town) said it was becoming an "epidemic" for children of "our generation." He said that it was as common these days as a root canal.

I'm sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery - but TRUST me when I tell you that you will feel so much better very soon! We will most certainly be thinking about you. When is the scheduled date of removal?

P.s. At least you don't have to worry about nurses ONLY being able to speak German to you - and forcing you to take strange medicine that you really don't know what it is. :)

"Holy cow!" (my stunned response to how long you had to wait in the waiting room) and another "Holy Cow!" for the discovery of your gallstones...

Take care, speedy recovery and of course, enjoy the vicodin...see if they'll throw in some xanax too ;-)

This is why I want to try to get it done NOW rather than wait until after our China trip......
