Holy Steeler Empire II
Danielle has alerted me to an article in The National Catholic Register profiling that great Catholic institution, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Catholic thing is really just a bonus for me. I'm just glad I was raised in a family and geography that favored Steelers fandom, and the organization is a bunch of decent folks. I mean, decent in their long-standing commitment to the city and to their organization. Decent in offering a contract extension to a coach who was coming off a 6-10 season (in most other football teams he would be interviewing for coordinator jobs again). Decent in understanding the balances we all need to strike in life. The Rooneys are revered and respected around here. (Kevin McClatchy should take note--it was the Rooney connection that made him want to be here)
