Cardinal Zen's Coat-of-Arms
I know some of you are suckers for these things.
From the Diocese of Hong Kong's website, this official explanation:
The design on the Coat of Arms is based on one of the dreams of St. John BOSCO. There the Church appeared as a boat struggling through a rough, stormy sea and finally finding peace in the embrace of two pillars: on one pillar was the Holy Eucharist, and on the other, Our Lady Help of Christians. The anchor is the symbol of the virtue of Hope. The motto is taken from 1 Pet 5:7. The original Biblical text in Latin runs as follows: “Omnem sollicitudinem vestram proicientes in Eum, quoniam Ipsi cura est de vobis”. In English it says: “Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you. ”
Oh yeah, it may help to know that Bishop Zen is a Salesian. And here's my protocol question---do Cardinals get a new Coat of Arms? I am guessing yes, because the violet hat and tassels represent one thing, and now he will need something with a scarlet hat?
