Memoirs of a Geisha in China

'Way back in November I posted this about some of the issues surrounding Memoirs of a Geisha in China. I read tonight in my South China Morning Post (online) that the movie still has not been released in China. The mainland release date of February 19 is anticipated to be pushed out. What is feared the most, according to this article, isn't just the normal problems American movies give the censors. There is a serious fear of anti-Japanese response to the movie. The leading women are played by Chinese actresses, too, which doesn't help. The film may end up being banned.
Despite the delay of and the potential ban on the screening of the movie, there are plenty of pirated DVD's in circulation for the truly curious.
