Settle this discussion

Before I have to call Simon Schama (darn the bad luck).
St. Bede-is it more appropriate to refer to him as an Angle or Anglo-Saxon? Schama calls him, "consummate English story-teller, an artful retailer of wonders, a writer of brilliantly imaginative prose." Can't you just hear him saying that?
