The Return of the Blogger
A few of my favorite bloggers have recently emerged from breaks of various lengths.
Neha of Wanderlust has been busy with school and writing a novel, but, unlike me, she was able to find time to attend a talk given by Salman Rushdie. I am so jealous but happy for her. From her blog it is fair to say that Rushdie has had a profound effect on her.
Greg of The Parish has also been busy with school and also with his church commitments. He has come back and the break seems to have fueled him for some amazing posts, if this one is any indication of what is to come. He's one of those bloggers that make we wonder why I even bother to blog, but then I have my maybe 20 hits per day, mostly from folks who share in some part of my lineage, and I realize that they are just here for the pictures of the kids anyway :-).
And this blog I have been reading on the down low since Amy Welborn linked to it on Open Book not too long ago. It is written by a young wife, mother, and attorney who is younger than I am. If you read her blog, it will make just about anything else you are obsessing over, be it the Alito confirmation or gay seminarians or whatever, seem meaningless. Read this entry from her archives first. just a run-of the-mill entry. A lot of her entries up to this point are a lot like mine, except she works and runs, too, but she talks a lot about getting her son to eat solid foods, watching him smile--regular stuff. Then BAM. She is diagnosed with cancer. So on top of planning a first birthday party, watching first steps, recording on her blog first words, she is dealing with aggressive treatments. Most recently she was away from her son for weeks in another state receiving treatments and now she is home, their whole family together. She has no idea who I am, but I pray for her constantly.
