Halloween Fun

So in anticipation of a Halloween party tomorrow night at the Library, Myles, Crispian, Kate, and I decorated pumpkins. One of the activities is a Decorated pumpkin contest. Here are some of our potential entries.
All of them

My favorite of Crispian's

Kate's very pretty one

Crispian's favorite of his own

My favorite of Myles' (the two in the front of this picture)

I'm not sure what the categories are, but we must have at least one of them covered.
Myles was positively maniacal with tonight's painting exercise. He generally is very compulsive with painting anyway, but tonight we reached a new level. Imagine a cartoon child who goes crazy on sugar, and has it kept from him until he goes bonkers. Now put a paintbrush in his hand and that is Myles. My normally nominally polite child, Mr. Please and Thank You every Third Time without Prompting, was demanding--for paint. "Myles need RED!!!" We would pour red into a Dixie Cup, give him a paint brush, and he would paint a few strokes. Then he would jump up and yell, "Myles need PURPLE!!!" "Myles need BROWN!!!" Okay, I really think I understated this with the cartoon reference. Imagine Gator from Jungle Fever, except short and white with blond hair. Crispian was content to work on his color blends and shadings. Myles on the other hand was out of control. He found a package of paintbrushes that I hadn't opened yet. We only had like 20 different paintbrushes and sponges out already. He shook the bag at me, demanding that I opened it, like it contained the last hit in the neighborhood or something. Funny, though, was that Myles wasn't flinging the paint all over, messy for messiness sake. He was actually going nuts over his painting projects.
Too much fun to be having that close to bedtime, though......
