An unexpected post from Dappled Things
Dappled Things is a blog written by an Arlington-based 30ish priest. He writes frequently about religion and theology and liturgy. Some of his political posts tend to be more conservative than I am, so I was actually surprised to read that he felt that the CPB Mann study was bogus.
I do listen to more NPR than I do watch PBS, though my PBS watching of late is increasing to include Sesame Street and way, way, WAAAYYYYY too much Thomas the Tank Engine. Anyway, it was interesting to read Fr. Jim's thoughts. He does make the less surprising statement that he is opposed to governement funding of media. This is where we diverge. I do support public funding, which is more crucial for the smaller market stations and productions and emerging programs. Sesame Street of course is completely self-financed with its merchandising. But other programs, other voices, may not be heard or seen without a less market-driven approach. Yes, pledge drives and under-writers do vote with their $$, but the government funding assures that programming will be there for those who cannot afford to call in their pledge now, and at the $60 level you will receive this lovely Mystery! tote.
I would like to know, though, exactly how much liberal or anti-administration bias was to be found on Tucker Carlson's show.
