Pre-sale of the Sidney Crosby CCM (that stands for Canadian Cycle and Motor Co, not Contemporary Christian Music in this context) replica jersey has begun already. I would run over to a local Dick's at the earliest possible moment Sunday to be the first with a Crosby jersey if they are available already, but I think if I buy a jersey with a name on it, I will somehow jinx something. There is a possibility the Penguins could be moved out of Pittsburgh with the new financing AND a no-go on a new arena. If I buy a new Penguin jersey with Crosby's name on it, I feel like tht would set the move in motion. A few years ago when Randy and I were in Prague vacationing, I wanted to get Czech national team hockey jerseys for my parents and sisters. I wanted to get ones with Marty Straka's name on them, but all I could find for a Czech Penguin was Jaromir Jagr (remember him? the Whiny Baby with the Mullet). Jagr was still with the Penguins but barely. I had seen Straka jerseys earlier in the week, but during the course of our stay, the Czech national team won the World Cup (someday I'll have to write a post about it being one of the greatest sports moments I have witnessed--Prague during the finals of Czech vs. Finland), and the jerseys were getting scarce, even of players like Straka who weren't even on the 2001 national team. I told the shop girl that I really wanted Straka rather than Jagr, so she offered me---get this---Dominik Hasek. If this had been the US I would have spit on her. Hasek? So I bought the Jagr jerseys, and just about the time I brought them home---Jagr signed with Washington.
