Livin' after Midnight

This will be of special interest to you, Puritas Corbin. Today on the way from the Outer Banks to Raleigh (house hunting stinks, expecially when you have a time-crunch), I listened to today's Fresh Air which was a really interesting interview with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Oh yeah, Breakin the Law, Breakin the Law (or in Chinese, something like Zao Fan Yo Li). Anyway, Judas Priest is back with Halford on lead vocals. All is right in the world.
I love it when Terry Gross interviews a Pop Star because she gets this excited little edge in her voice, like Gee this is going to be fun (that edge quickly disappeared when she was interviewing Gene Simmons...).
Some of the highlights include Terry reading the lyrics to the new song "Angel of Retribution," and try as she might not to sound ironic it just isn't in her; Halford's confession that the Thesaurus is his favorite book (WOW--just like Sondheim); Gross poking and prodding Halford into confessing that he is really into leather which was unsuccessful on her part because he isn't (he just thought one day that leather and studs conveyed the Judas Priest music better than the glammed satin and silks, which wasn't that comfortable on stage anyway); and Terry Gross asking him at what point when does he look in the mirror and say to himself, "I am a Metal God" and his response being more akin to well, everyone gets dressed for work and that changes your attitude.
And if you like metal, let me know if you, too, think the new Priest sounds more like old Iron Maiden than old Priest :-)
