It all comes back to that Kane connection
I am sure this is true for just about any small town in the world, but for some reason, no matter how far you go, you cannot escape the Kane connection.
If you are from Kane, everywhere you go, there will be some connection back to Kane. I am only now starting to document this Bermuda Triangle of Six Degrees of Kane, PA. All of you Kane-nites please feel free to contribute.

Some examples:
- Years ago, Wendy Reynolds worked as a nanny for a family in Squirrel Hill (Pittsburgh). The brother of the wife told Wendy that he had just hired a bartender at his restaraunt that was from Kane. Her name he told her, was Gayle, uh, uh... Drake, Wendy told him. He wanted to know how Wendy was so certain. Because there were no other girls named Gayle in Kane.
- Only a few years ago, my sister Kate had a neighbor named Jen. Jen was from Seattle. She told Kate (rather excitedly) that her best friend back home was dating a guy from Kane. Of course, Kate knew immediately it was Bob Porkolab, who was also the Alaska Air co-pilot that famously slugged a drunk passenger.
- Occassional poster "SP", aka Paul Sosa, aka Paulson married a woman who went to and worked at Bryn Mawr with one of the Valdes sisters.
- This past weekend, while I was at Flickerfest (longer blog entry on this tomorrow! with pictures!) , Julie Zampogna and I were talking and she mentioned some friends of hers from Philly that came to Flickerfest on Saturday. She said it was the funniest thing-one of these friends had a college friend in Emporium that when she was in high school was completely in love with Julie's older brother Rick. As Julie said, Rick was like her Rob Lowe.
