I am NOT a big Loser

I just got great news in my email today. It was bittersweet, actually, because I have grown to be quite proud of being a loser. When I wrote this a few months back about the final rejection of one of my patents, I figured that was the end of the story, the close of the book, if you will, on my previous life. And a fitting end to it all. However, I got an email from Brian Loseke, my former co-worker and co-inventer on the magnet comm that read:

How are you doing? It has been a long time. I understand that you may be moving to the area later this year
The magnet commutator patent has finally been granted. The only thing left is to complete the declaration. You may have done this already but with the switch to ECS and the change in Attorneys, the new one does not have a record of it. If you can sign and return the second page to me, I would appreciate it. I will get it to the attorneys and keep a copy just in case it gets lost again. It has already happened on another application. Fortunately, I had kept a copy.

So all I have to do is sign this paper, send it back, and now I will know that my obituary can safely and honestly read that I was an inventer. I even imagine that in my old age it will be some sort of family rumor that the young grandchildren exchange: Can you believe Nana actually invented something? She's so old, I wonder if it was really Post-Its.
Yeah, I hope they imagine it to be something more interesting than an integrated magnet-commutator. I mean, what the heck is that? Will there even be brush motors by the time I am a grandmother? And for you smarty-pants out there I mean a grandmother by way of my own biological child or children.

Thank you all. I'm no Dean Kamen, i'll tell you that. And you are your own claim to fame, Mr. Ekeh. You are one of my six degrees of John Allen.
