Some examples of Crispian's artwork
I am a little late in getting this up, but I only tonight transferred the files from my camera to my dad's computer. Also at the Winchester Thurston May-Day celebration was an exhibit of the art of th eKindergarten class. In this picture you can see some examples of Crispian's art. Click on the picture to make it larger. My favorites in this array are the one on the far left which is very Matisse-like, the one on the bottom right, which is Crispian's interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers (his favorite artist), and the one above that which is Crispian's imagined scene of Degas painting. Yeah, his tastes are way more sophisticated than all of us combined.
This year's art is a clear departure from a lot of his earlier paintings from Pre-K. At that time his paintings were highly expressionistic (which is probably why he likes Van Gogh so much). For instance, if Crispian painted a picture of the beach, his brush strokes would tell a story, like the waves go in and out and the wind blows this way and the sun moves across the sky. He wasn't painting snapshots of time but rather the observed passage of time. The paint would become layered and textured. You would have to read the layers to get the whole picture. These newer works are much more representative, which is not to say they aren't excellent, but I have to admit I miss the motion and life of his Pre-K period.
