Myles sees the Pirates win for a change

While my sister Megan worked for the Pirates, we enjoyed a lot of benefits, including free tickets. Myles has been to several games both last season and this season, but he never saw the Pirates win once in any of his trips to the Park. Saturday night was a definitely a change from that. The Pirates beat the Brewers, 2-0. Jack Willson did hit at least one double that I remember, which was nice because the Pirates' Lone All-Star led the league last year in doubles hit, was also a league giant in slugging, and yet, can't even break .200 batting average yet this season. Mark Redman threw a fantastic game. But hitting is still the Pirates' big problem. In a couple of innings, the bases were loaded at the time of the third out.
Saturday night we (Me, Myles, and Crispian) got to go because the Red Hat Ladies of Kane and the surrounding areas had 2 extra tickets. My aunt Millie is a Red Hat Lady (would you believe there are actually 2 chapters in Kane?), and she organized the trip. They opened up the trip to non-Red Hats and non-Ladies (shuddup!), and so it ended up being a big Hutchins family outing.
The game was delayed more than an hour because of rain. This did not sit well with Myles because the minute we got there he was ready to cheer and clap and scream. He eventually got his chance to start doing that, but that wasn't until long after 8:00. By the last few innings, he had had enough and was a complete Crankpot. I can't blame him because this cold or flu or whatever I have was starting to get really bad at that point, too, so I wasn't a ball of team spirit then either.
Before the game, everyone's favorite relief pitcher Jose Mesa (Joe Table) was honored for his recent acheivement of his 300th save (he now has 304). He received a trophy from Rolaids (the official sponsor of relief pitchers), a Steuben Glass bowl, and a Rolex from the team. I really enjoy watching Mesa pitch. He has this weirdly unique style. While he is getting the call from the catcher, his right arm, always in long sleeves, hangs limply like there is no life in it. He bends over as he gets the call, so all you see is that long arm in the black sleeve dangling. Then when he goes to his stance, it snaps up, like some sort of elastic is retracting. It is so different that so many other pitchers.
Anyway, despite the rain, the delay, the cranky kid at the end, it was a good game. I wish I would have taken this picture much earlier because Myles was crying when I put him on Papa's lap but it was toward the end of the game. Whenever I tried to take it earlier, someone had to go to the bathroom, or under the canopy because it was starting to rain, or whatever. It was funny that Myles was so upset by my putting him on Papa's lap, because through the whole game Papa had to be in his sights. He was agitated when Papa left his seat (Papa? Papa?), and he had to make eye contact and play peekaboo a few times during the game.
In the back row are my mom, AKA Bubba, flashing gang symbols, my Aunt Sue, and my Aunt Millie AKA Aunt Sissy. In the front row are Crispian, my dad aka Papa, and Grouchy McGrumpicuddy.

And I have a picture to email you of the shoulderette. I love it. Women kept stopping me outside of church. And I gave your info to a boutique lady in Warren, PA.
