Must be something in the air tonight
With the exception of my day-old Pope joke, I only want to blog about beer tonight. Seems that is all anyone else wants to blog about either :-)
Yesterday The Parish gave a very important update on his progress working through 108 taps at Tapworks in OKC. This is all the more fun because he is a grad student at Southern Nazarene University.
Then the Rubberboots Girl asked me about when I was planning to visit Stuttgart to sample the first beer to be endorsed by Benedetto XVI. The beer he likes was a Wheat Beer; I would have figured him to favor a Maiboch. After I saw this post at the seriously Catholic blog HMS (look, Corbin, look), I thought a great name for this Beer might be Papst Blue Ribbon.
And NPR's All Things Considered had two segments about beer this afternoon. One was a live tasting of some pricier beers with the man who wrote the Ultimate Beer Guide. They left out one of my favorites, Thomas Hardy. Right now a 1987 vintage costs $129 at the Sharp Edge near my sister's house. Tom Standage was also interviewed about his new book, A History of the World in Six Glasses. If you can, give the interview a listen. Did you know the oldest recorded recipe is for Beer?
