Maybe it was because I was so wrapped up in Desperate Housewives?

Someone help me!! Andrew Sullivan is now the darling of liberals and generally disliked by conservatives? When did this happen? Or is it just among the Catholics?

I'm not too familiar with Sullivan or his blog. I didn't know he was the new darling of liberals. That's funny.

But I did notice the tide turning against him in the Catholic blogsphere when he started all his ranting about "theocracy" lately. Also he reportedly he had a total hissy-fit meltdown when Pope Benedict was elected, which turned off a lot of people.

Sullivan's problem with Catholic conservatives came when the gay marriage thing was heating up and the relationship eventually went nuclear. He loves taking jabs at liberals and liberals generally could not stand him because there was a feeling that he was aligning himself with the very people who make it policy to unfairly discriminate against gays.

But the key was that Sullivan supported John Kerry and that is some serious currency in the liberal world. Now, he's seen as a someone who really wants to be a liberal but is to embarassed to self identify as such. Much of what he says though can pass for a moderate liberal. All IMHO
