I Love Mondays!
When I was heavily involved in projects at work, I would work late nights, all weekend, whatever it took to get things done. Weekends were really just two more workdays, but Mondays still had that bit of new week drag to them. Yes, I would even play this song some mornings as part of my Monday morning drive to work time. The last two years of my working life, that started to change a little. At Johanson my workload wasn't so bad that I would have to work all weekend long, so I had some free time. And then by the time I got to VAC, it wasn't too long before I got pregnant and I needed the weekends to rest up. Weekends were something to treasure and Monday an occassion of dread.
But in my new life, this has all changed. Especially when Myles and I were still living in Mississippi, weekends were not as much fun as they used to be (except those Saturdays I had class by which time I was glad to get away). Randy would be at work all week, so Myles and I would have our routines worked out. We knew what to expect every day. When the weekends came, Daddy would be around with his plans and things he wanted to do. The routine would be messed up and i would end up more tired than I was at the beginning of the weekend. Even in our gypsy life, weekends are a little more hectic than our everyday life. Myles and I are at our best on weekdays.
When we are in Pittsburgh, I just love Mondays. On Monday mornings we go to the Carnegie Library in Oakland for Baby Lap-Sit. Myles is technically too old for Lap-Sit, but they haven't started up a new session of Toddler Time yet. This is the most fantastic thing in my world. First of all, it is free. Second, it is an hour where I don't have to think about whether or not Myles' activities are educational or not. Third, and this is important, since this is at the Main Branch of the library, there is a Crazy Mocha in the library. You can drink your coffee anywhere on the first floor, including the children's rooms. Myles knows exactly where to go when I ask, "Is it time to get some coffee?" And then he is off for the coffee shop.
We spend most of the morning lingering about the library long after Lap Sit is over. I'll get some coffee and then we'll go back into the children's room to browse the toddler board books stacks. There's a small circus tent built over a reading area and Myles will crawl into that with a book and flip through it, or just crawl around it. There are some puzzles on the tables, and we tackle those. Then I'll ask if he wants to see the trees, meaning go out to the Bamboo deck. When the weather is nice (meaning not snowing or raining), we'll go out there, and he'll stomp around. Then some mornings we'll go further outside to see the dinosaurs. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is the home of some of the best known dinosaur fossils in the world. Because of that, the area around the library/museum complex has a lot of dinosaur-related things. One of them is a life-size fibergalss rendering of the Diplodicus Carnegii, named for Andrew Carnegie himself.

So that is my Monday, my favorite day of the week. Myles and I have our rituals and routines and just love it.
