Pittsburgh is Warhol-crazy
Courtesy of Meg, check out this upcoming event in Pittsburgh commemorating the renaming of one of the bajillions of bridges the Warhol Bridge. It will be one street up from the Clemente Bridge. The Warhol will be showing a movie about a bridge, host a bridge playing demo, and someone will probably be singing bridge songs.
This shows you one of the things I like so much about Pittsburgh. The new Warhol Bridge is one street up from Clemente. Arts and sports so close together. I describe this as the most (contemporary) Pittsburgh experience ever--I was downtown on a Sunday afternoon, a matinee performance of the Opera was letting out of the Benedum and an afternoon baseball game was over. Because of the geography of downtown, these two crowds' parking overlapped. I overheard more than a few dressed-up people ask how the game was; I also overheard some of the folks in t-shirts and ball caps ask the opera folks in return how the performance was.
If this were to be a classic Pittsburgh experience we would all have been eating halushki :-)
