Mendlessohn Choir concert and Red Star
So on Saturday I went to Greensburg to see Megan in the Medlessohn Choir perform with the River City Brass Band. The concert was good--a fantastic soprano soloist, some great choral arrangements by Bob Page himself, and some funny moments where the conductor of the RCBB made sure that he pointed out, yes, I just did make one of the greatest choirs in the US play kazoos in a concert. The crowd was mostly over 50. I sat between two 60ish couples. Those on my left noted before the performance with much excitement that the first song was a PDQ Bach, and then proceeded to laugh way enthusiastically at every little quirk in the piece. The couple on my left apparently never heard of PDQ because the husband said quite loudly after the starter pistol, "What kind of a special effect was that?"
After the concert Megan and I went over to Red Star to meet up with some of my friends. Meg was my girl because she put her need for beer ahead of her need not to look like a Menonite on the lose (she was wearing her concert uniform). Alyssa and her husband Brock were there as well as Beth Gatons and her husband. That is Alyssa and Beth in the picture up there. Beth is married, so I should get around to calling her Beth Clement (I never changed my name because of the work involved). All you need to know about her husband is that his first name is Doctor. HAHAHAHA Actually he is a very nice man. Beth is also active in her Lutheran Church as a council member, the same church attended by John Spurlock. Small world, huh?
