A little more round-up of other people's posts better than mine
Some folks in my circle were unaware of the controversies surrounding Million Dollar Baby. Open Book has some post-Oscars stuff about it. One of Corbin's favorite blogs, Church of the Masses, had this review, basically taking Eastwood et al to task for manipulating Christian and specifically Catholic imagery to a non-Christian end. I still haven't seen it, and with the possibility of only getting to see one Movie this month, it actually isn't on my top 5 possibilities list.
The Parish continues to make me laugh too hard. Here's his fun critique of a recent LaHaye radio appearance. Randy read a very cool book a few years ago called The Rapture Trap, a Catholic response to Rapture Eschatology. I also found this old article from NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE that hits the high points of problems with the concept of the Rapture. Maybe you should check to see if the Rapture is beginning because I am willingly linking to National Review. Speaking of Rapture, I remember reading an essay in the Louisville alternative free press by a local woman who was a pilot for like Midwest Express or someone like that. She was in the air THAT morning September 11th, and in her little story in the paper she notes that when she heard that planes were flying into buildings, she assumed the pilots had to have disappeared, like in the beginning of the Left Behind Stories. Being raised a good Christian, she said, she always assumed she would be one of those taken during the Rapture and she was initally upset that she wasn't. Not that potential tens of thousands of people could have died at that instant, not that maybe some other country was declaring war on us, not anything that probably ran through most of our heads that morning. It made me kinda sick. And if anyone that stumbles here or is a secret regular here, and you do believe in the Rapture, I apologise for this part of the post, but you can laugh the whole way to Heaven when the Rapture comes.
