Sunday was Pirate Fest
And yes, it was fun. Crowded, but fun.
The four of us (Kate, Crispian, Myles and this Mommy) got to go to the annual Pirate Fest, a promotional even to get you back to being interested in Pirate Baseball after spending the last few months in single-minded devotion to Steelers Football. I asked Megan if they made the players go to this in Pittsburgh in February so they appreciate going down to Bradenton in the next few weeks. Nothing makes me appreciate Florida like February in Pennsylvania.
Pirate Fest was actually all weekend, and Meggie had to work it Friday and Saturday. This included judging a Pieroie eating contest. Yup. we are in Pittsburgh. Hot Dog eating contests are so Coney Island. Maybe next year they can have a Halushki bake-off:-). On Saturday while Meg was on break she called me and she interrupted the call to say, "Hey, I really like the hair.... No, I really do... Okay, later"
I teased her, "Were you just talking to Craig Wilson?" I thought she was talking to one of her office coworkers.
"Well, Yeah."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah"
Nu-uh!
This was the big news in sports this weekend. It kinda reminded me of when Keri Russell cut her hair and everyone stopped watching Felicity.
Craig Wilson before:
I am trying to find an after. I thought someone emailed me one, but I can't find it. He went from not cutting his hair at all last season to being shaved down. Of course he donated his hair to Locks of Love.
We were very pleased to note the giveaways for this season. Not to ruin anyone's surprise, but you may see some of these in your Christmas stocking next year. I am excited for the fleece blanket, the Crawfords Cap and the Jack Wilson in the Box giveaways (hint hint). It will also be fun this year as Meggie is going to do the play-by-play announcing for some ot the Pierogie races this year!!!!!! It is because she is so fluent in Pittsburghese.
I am partial to Jalapeno Hannah. Yes it is because she is a girl, and she totally kicks butt even carrying a purse and wearing dangly earings.
I wish I could tell you about all the cool thing that Crispian got to do, but we had to separate for most of the event. A lot of the activities Crispian was into had lines, and Myles isn't too cool with the lines.
I can tell you what I got to do that was sooooo cool. They had a fantasy play-by-play booth, where you watched particularly exciting highlights from last season and gave a play-by-play and color commentary. This was all put on video tape so you can be embarrassed by it later. I think I did okay, except I called Kip Wells "Jason." All those white guys look alike, you know? Actually, I really don't care about accuracy because it was more fun than I expected.
No surprise really what Myles favorite part was.

me: (still in shock) "holy cow! it's really all gone."
get the picture? jen was giddy when she found out that i really was talking to craig wilson. after i hung up the phone with her, i said to craig, "i knew you cut your hair, but i didn't know it was that short!" he just did that head-rubbing thing and said, "yeah, i figured it was time to get rid of it."
