Some stuff on The Gates
So on Howard Stern the other morning (no, he's not my usual habit, but Myles was asleep and other than the throwing bologna at a strippers bare backside stuff, there is a lot that he talks about---note talks about not does--that is very funny and intriguing. He actually conducts interesting interviews.), I heard the absolute best criticism of The Gates in Central Park from Stern's sidekick Artie:
"It looks like a construction zone."
To which Howard replied something like, "Yeah, I thought there was going to be some sort of art thing going up there."
Hahaha
Anyway, I was wrong in my earlier post about my theory on tourism not being significantly boosted by the Gates. Museum attendance is up, for some doubled from last February and the Central Park venders are pretty pleased with the increase in business (Artie admitted to buying an extra hotdog when he went to see it). I still maintain that most of that is local tourism. The high school classmates from Lexington, Kentucky, that have been planning this trip for months are too busy calling everything GRAYHTE (great) and going to see the Lion King or something, maybe getting tickets to the View.
