Playdate
So Myles and I had a playdate with my old friend Alyssa and her son Xavier in Greensburg. Of the regular visitors here only Corbin and some of my sisters if they are there would know her, but you still might find this exchange kinda funny. Further proof that I still need more work on the Mommy thing.
I was imploring Myles to do some of his "tricks" for Alyssa. This is something new parents do. We trot out our kids and make them do things like, "Show Alyssa your belly" or "Where is your nose?" or in Myles case today, "Do your Vaudeville Act for Alyssa."
Perhaps I need to explain that a little. Crispian has for some time done this funny dance that is kinda like the Warner Brother's Frog to a song whose lyrics are "Yutta yutta yutta; yutta yutta yutta. Yutta yu tah tah tah tah tah ah ah" and ends with an Al Jolson-y flourish. It is completely awesome. Myles has in the past week and a half started imitating it.
So I get Myles to perform a little Yutta yutta for Alyssa and she of course indulges me in some, Aww how cute which feeds my need for more praise so I say,
"You really want to see him dance? Let's put on some rap music and really watch him go."
Alyssa gives me an are-you-serious-look.
I try to encourage Myles, "Come on, Myles. Oh yeah, everybody in the club getting tipsy..."
"Xavier doesn't listen to anything that doesn't have the word Adagio in the title."
