Daytona Baby!
I've been trying to get enthused about the beginning of the NASCAR seasons. It is really hard this year. I don't think it is because of the mom thing, but rather the gypsy thing. Not everywhere I go is NASCAR spoken. But I am working on it. Once I see a few races, watch some of what I call the Michael Waltrip show, and I will "drip oil again."
Dale Jarrett has the pole, so that should make Crispian happy. My main man Kenseth is back in 46th, but he came come from the back and turn out a decent finish.
My predictions this year, which are actually quite random and not that educated
1) No Dodges in the top 10 points, except for maybe Ryan Newman. New car= new problems. Two seasons ago when Tony Stewart was struggling after capturing the cup only the previous season, everyone blamed him and the contract negotiations, or uneasiness with his crew, but I think it was because it was their first season with the Chevy. Sorry Everham. No Dodges.
2) Kyle Busch will get a suspension sometime this season. He apparently makes his brother look calm, cool, and collected
3) Boris Said will still not win a road race
4) Robbie Gordon's new team will fold
What I am not looking forward to
1) SuperSpeedway races. Yes, I'm one of those folks that sees Daytona and 'Dega as pretty boring. Very much drive fast turn left and that's all. Big crashes, no racing. I don't think that will ever change. Give me Bristol, Pocono, New Hampshire, Martinsville, Darlington.
Things I am looking forward to:
1) Return of Inside Nextel Cup with Michael Waltrip. He is the funniest man in the sport. I wish Kelly Ripa would use him as a co-host rather than Jeff Gordon when Regis is vacationing with the Trumpster. Waltrip is tons funnier than pretty-boy Gordon.
2) Dale Jarrett making the top 10 this year
3) The Terry Bradshaw commercials. They've already started. I love NASCAR commercials in general anyway because the sponsors can make these guys do anything they want. With one of the FitzBradshaw cars sponsored by SuperCuts, there is an awesome commercial with Terry that has a joke about hair color. Having Terry Bradshaw at your disposal has to be a sponsor's dream.
4) Matt Kenseth in 2005!!!!!!! You read it here first!
