Happy Birthday, Willa Cather

Today is is the birthday of Willa Cather. Pittsburgh loves to lay claim to some of her legacy. Her Pittsburgh connections are outlined by the Carnegie Library here.

My Antonia is, of course, one of my favorite books.

Remember that night during senior year when we were going to drive to Pittsburgh to see if we could find Willa Cather's house? :-)

Oh my goodness I nearly forgot. We were going to do it in the middle of the night as I remember. And her house was in what used to be Allegheny City? Oh yeah, that would have been a good idea, a couple of white college girls running off to the North Side in the middle of the night to look for some house. HAHAHAHA
